Trying New Things

Hi, I’m Cale Gunter—someone who’s always down to try something new, especially if it involves good food, good people, or a memorable experience.

One of the moments that shaped who I am happened back in 7th grade on a club lacrosse trip to Philadelphia. As soon as we landed, my teammates and I made the only right move you can make in Philly: heading straight for Pat’s and Geno’s. That first cheesesteak was more than just a great meal—it was the start of a friendship and an adventure I’ve never forgotten.

From sprinting to the nearest table with my best friends, to inhaling the cheesesteak in record time, to discovering all kinds of “hidden treasures” in our rundown hotel room, that trip showed me something important: the best memories come from saying yes. If I had played it safe, eaten alone, or kept to myself, I would’ve missed out on friendships that still matter to me today.

That’s why I love trying new things. Every new experience—no matter how random, weird, or unexpected—has the potential to change your life in the best way. Whether it’s traveling, meeting new people, or just saying yes to the moment, I’ve learned that stepping out of your comfort zone is where the real fun starts.

I try to live with the mindset that you only get one life, so you might as well make the most of every opportunity. And if that opportunity comes with a cheesesteak? Even better.
